WAYS TO BECOME A BETTER ANGLER
There’s no known formula on how to be a better angler, and there are no shortcuts to it. Gaining experience while upgrading your tackle and skills are some of the ways on how you can become a successful angler.
Here are some ways to help you become a better angler.
SOCIALISING WITH OTHER ANGLERS
There’s always something to learn whether you’re a veteran or a beginner in fishing. It pays to socialise with like-minded fishers, and know their experiences. You can also join a fishing club to connect and collaborate with more fishers. The good thing about it is that you gain more friends while learning or sharing your know-how on fishing.
GO FISHING MORE OFTEN AS YOU CAN
Great anglers catch fish in all kinds of weather and in every condition. You must learn how to deal with whatever life throws at you, but there’s no need to go fishing during extreme conditions. Find an alternative fishing place where you can find an area that’s safe and good to catch fish.
ALWAYS ARRIVE PREPARED
Organize your fishing equipment ahead of time. A checklist will help you remember everything you need.
HAVE PLANS A TO Z
You don’t have to list all backup plans, you just have to be flexible with all the changes. Always have options just in case your original plan doesn’t go as expected.
TRY NEW THINGS
Don’t be afraid to fish on new spots or try new things. Getting out of your comfort zones means expanding your horizon. Fish on different spots on a regular basis and you’ll be surprised to learn a different approach to different areas. Open your mind to new ideas because fishing techniques and tackle are also evolving too.
DON’T STOP LEARNING
The best thing about fishing is that there is no point where you can say you have mastered it all. There is always something else to learn. Keep up with the trends and recent updates in fishing tackle and techniques. This is a hobby that includes a whole range of activities even when you are not fishing.
KEEP A JOURNAL
It’s always good to look at a journal when you forgot something. Record the important things that you learned or even all your catches. A journal allows you to track your progress and will become a great read over time.
KEEP YOUR FOCUS
If you want to become a good angler, keep your focus on things that matter the most. Your journey towards becoming a successful angler may be rough and tedious; there are huge waves that can topple you down. Just keep on trying and learn from the experiences – good or bad.
Fishing often starts as a hobby and turns into something more like a lifestyle. There is always something to learn and plenty of different species to fish for to give you a never-ending learning experience. Fishing is addictive and there is always something to enjoy related to your hobby. It’s a hobby that takes me, and my mind, away to a special place all the time.
