TOASTIES WITH A TWIST
Toasties are so quick and easy while at the same time so tasty! But, have you ever thought of doing something a little different? Well here we have a list of ideas to make toasties that you can make to impress both your taste buds and those of your guests (if you’re willing to share that is!).
Remember that you should be buttering your bread on both sides and either fry in a frypan until the bread is golden brown on top and bottom, or use a sandwich toaster and wait for the timer to tell you it’s ready.
Cook your scrambled eggs with minced garlic and parsley for an extra punch of flavour, and salt and pepper to your taste. Place a slice of cheese on your bread and then divide out the egg on top.
SAUSAGE AND EGG
The best of a big Sunday brunch in a toastie! Get yourself some sausages, eggs (cook them how you like best), mashed avocado and cheddar cheese and layer them inside sourdough bread.
Grate your cauliflower and mix with eggs (1 egg per 2 sandwiches), oregano, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Cook on a pan as patties, turning over with golden. No bread for this recipe – the patties you’ve just made are it! Put some shredded cheddar between 2 and cook until melted.
Chop the broccoli into florets and roast on a pan drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper. Put shredded cheese on the bread first, then the roasted broccoli and then some more cheese on top as when the cheese melts it will keep the broccoli in your sandwich.
TURKEY, BACON AND AVOCADO
This recipe is easy peasy – you need sliced turkey, bacon (cooked and drained), sliced avocado and sliced cheddar cheese and should layer them in that order on your bread.
Mash your avocado and add lime juice, finely cut tomato and onion and add salt. Place on your bread and cover with sliced or shredded cheese.
Get yourself some sliced pineapple, ham or bacon and shredded mozzarella cheese to make a toastie just like your favourite pizza. If you want to be extra fancy then sprinkle oregano and parsley on your bread before the toppings.
If the latest American TV show just made you hungry for turkey, here’s a way you can make yourself a meal without all the stress that normally comes with the day. Layer roasted turkey breast, brie cheese and cranberry sauce on your bread and voila!
This recipe calls for brie cheese, dark chocolate chips and chopped strawberries. Slice the cheese and top with the chocolate and strawberry pieces.
Another sweet one to try. Buy a chocolate bar with almonds, mascarpone cheese and raspberries. Break the chocolate bar into pieces and coat with the cheese and berries on your bread. If you want it even more of a dessert then you could use slices of a sponge cake instead of bread.
