Two People Inserting Tent Peg

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A CAMPING TENT

Whether it’s a first tent purchase or upgrading your tent, you have to know how to choose a good camping tent. The wrong tent can ruin your camping trip. Choose a tent that suits your every need.

Here are some things to consider when choosing the right camping tent for your needs.

NUMBER OF SLEEPERS

A four-person tent sleeps four people, but there may not be enough space for your other stuff. Instead, if you want extra room for your other stuff other than just sleeping, a six-person tent is the way to go. With four people in my family, we use a six-person tent.

DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS

Get a tent that suits the weather. For example, a summer tent is made of lightweight material with lots of ventilation. A three-season tent protects you from heavy rain and winds. The same thing with snow, get a tent that’s capable of protecting you in the extreme weather.

THE EASE OF USE

Consider how easy it is to set up the tent. Most tents are generally pretty easy to set up. It’s only the largest of tents that require more than one pair of hands.

THE MATERIALS OF THE TENT

You have to check closely the materials the tent is made of. Know the advantages and disadvantages of every material under several conditions. Good online retailers highlight all this information. Also, check the quality of the zips of the tent.

WEIGHT OF THE TENT

Choose the weight of your tent depending on the location of your camp. Choose a lightweight tent if you’re going to hike.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Some additional feature to include in choosing a tent are the number of doors, windows, the storage space and the ability to add rooms. Make sure that the floor is durable, so your things are safe during bad weather. These extras go a long way.

AFTER SALES SERVICE

It’s important to have after sales service and warranties to make sure that your money is worth the purchase. Check the warranty and reviews from people who have had experience with that retailer.

These days, as long as you buy from a reputable camping retailer, you should be able to get a great deal. I can’t believe how much the prices of tents have fallen over my years of camping.
