QUICK GUIDE TO MOBILE PHONE APPS FOR KAYAK ANGLERS

Smartphones have a lot to offer fishos and kayak anglers. Let’s take a look at the types of apps you can take advantage of when fishing from your kayak – as long as you have cellular coverage. With so many apps available, we are not looking at specific applications but looking at the types of apps that exist in both iTunes and Google Play. Sorry if you are not using an Apple or Android.

WEATHER APPS

Just as boaties need to keep abreast of the weather, kayak fishermen do well to know what is going on around them. Daily weather forecasts just don’t do it. Numerous weather apps allow you to stay in touch with updates all day long. If a storm is coming, you will know about it and you can get out of the way.

TIDE APPS

Tide apps are excellent for fishos and kayak anglers. You will know exactly when the tide is coming in or going out.

LUNAR FISH CHARTS

These apps allow you to input any location and then calculates the moon changes and fish activity.

FISHING LOGS

You use your phone for just about everything else. Logging your fishing trips with one of these apps is a breeze. Plus they make it easier for your to review when and where you were most successful.

MAP APPS

Obviously Google Maps is the most favoured here, but geolocating maps with or without GPS add a whole new dimension to your phone. Google Earth features of Google Maps are a real bonus.

SOCIAL PHOTO SHARING APPS

Why wait until you get home. Share that catch right away with apps like Instagram.
