QUICK GUIDE TO A GREAT KAYAK FISHING LANDING NET

A landing net for a small fishing boat will normally end up in mayhem on a kayak. A landing net for a fishing kayak is a little different. So what to look for in a landing net for kayak fishing?

A GREAT KAYAK FISHING LANDING NET

A good kayak fishing net should have a long handle. Everything we do on a kayak when fishing is about staying upright. Lean out too far and you will find yourself in the drink before you know it.

Telescopic landing nets are some of the best on the market. Those that allow you to set the length are even better.

LEVERAGE IS IMPORTANT

So a longer landing net handle will give you less leverage. An excellent DIY to a landing net is to take a brace from a crutch. If you like to DIY, this addition will have you scooping up with ease.

PROTECTING THE FISH

Whether you are going to release a fish or keep it for the table, the best nets don’t harm fish. Rubberised fish nets are considered the gold standard for landing nets that don’t harm fish.

The secondary advantage to rubberised nets is that they are less likely to entangle your hooks. You can spend time getting on with the next catch instead of picking your hooks out of the net.
