CAIRNS

THE GATEWAY TO QUEENSLAND’S TROPICAL NORTH

In reality, Cairns was a sleepy fishing town not long ago. These days it is popular with backpackers to the rich and famous. It’s the perfect place to start a fishing trip around north and far north Queensland. Cairns offers accommodation for those on the tightest budget to those on a jet-setting holiday. There are loads of things to do and places to visit. You are close to the World Heritage wonders of the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. You are only a few hours drive from the luxury resorts of Port Douglas and Mission Beach. You’re close to the world famous Lizard Island. You can take the old railway to Kuranda or follow the Great Tropical Drive to white water rivers and the Atherton Tablelands.

If you are serious about getting away from it all, you can head into the far north of Cape Tribulation or take the Savannah Way for a true blue outback journey. If you are looking for a boat charter for the fishing trip of a lifetime, you can’t go past Cairns and the surrounding regions.

There are so many places to camp, walk, hike, fish or even get on a world class fishing charter. We’re collecting our favourites so you can make your adventure happen.
