PACKING TIPS FOR LAZY PEOPLE OR THOSE WHO PROCRASTINATE

The more one travels, the easier that packing becomes. That’s because you have done it so many times, you know what you don’t need to pack. While some people find packing fun because they are excited about their adventure, there are those like me who are not really interested in packing and just want to go with the minimum of fuss.

These are my packing tips that can be applied to many situations, from camping, fishing to staying in a resort. I call them my packing tips for people who are lazy or want to avoid procrastinating (like me).

KEEP YOUR TRAVEL GEAR PACKED

I keep my travel stuff in a bag and leave it that way. This really applies for camping stuff. If you take half the kitchen with you, you will probably spend a day sorting out what you need. If you have a separate kit you never unpack, you will save a lot of time. I have the same setup even if I am travelling to stay in hotels. The usual things, like adapters and the like, they all stay in a travel bag I keep.

HAVE TRAVEL CLOTHES

Travelling and being there are very different things. I like to travel comfortably and am not too fussed what I look like. This applies to whether I am in a car driving to a destination or flying. There is nothing like having a travel tracksuit on hand that you can always wear when you know the road is ahead of you.

Similarly, I go for clothes that perform well, no matter how I have packed them. Wrinkle-free clothing and clothing that looks fine when wrinkled are my favourite choices whether I am camping outback or staying in a 6 star hotel. Just because I am lazy, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to look good for all those photos I am going to share with friends and family later.

GET HELP FROM A LAUNDROMAT

One thing I really love about getting my clothes washed at a laundromat is the fact that they wash and fold them. This is the perfect way to reduce time when getting ready to go away on a trip. All the clothes you want are neatly prepared to go straight into that bag or suitcase.

OLD PACKING LISTS

This one is a huge time saver if you are camping or staying in a resort. Why not keep that packing list from your last trip, it will save you a lot of time coming up with another one. Having a list that you used previously can really help reduce procrastination.

KEEP A SEPARATE TOILETRIES BAG

I take all the toiletries I can from hotels and the like and keep them in a separate bag. With a couple of toothbrushes and toothpaste, I have just about everything I really need. This is much the same principle of having a travel kit applied to my personal grooming needs.

SCHEDULE YOUR PACKING TIME

Let’s face it, the main reason why people rush or forget items when they pack is because they do it in a rush right before they leave. The best way to pack for any trip is to pack a good day before you go. Set yourself a couple of hours aside and knock it off knowing you have a little time to remember anything you forgot.
