Small Dog Resting In Tent

ESSENTIAL TIPS WHEN CAMPING WITH DOGS

If you want to go on camping with your dogs, there are a few things to consider before heading off. You have to make sure that they’re prepared enough to take on the adventure. Dogs can get stressed easily, so make sure that you have everything that they need.

There are some few tips to consider to give your dogs the best trip of their dog’s life.

GO TO A VETERINARIAN BEFORE CAMPING

Bring your dog to a veterinarian to see if they’re fit enough to go camping. Visit your dog’s vet especially if they have any existing condition.

CHOOSE YOU ITINERARY WISELY

You have to choose the best place to go camping when you’re with your dogs. New environment, new sounds and people can freak them out. Let them get used to seeing new faces and places especially if your dog is one that spends most of its time indoors. You can take them for walks, or to your local shopping centre so they can learn how to act and you know how to handle them well around other people.

BRING WATER, MEDICATIONS AND FOOD

You have to be sure to bring enough supply of water for your dogs. If they have medications, don’t forget to bring it with you while you’re on the trip. Pack enough food that can last for a few extra days, just in case.

PACK THEIR FAVOURITE STUFF

When you travel to new a place or do new something new such as camping, it is a good idea to bring something that they’re very familiar with. Take their favourite stuff like toy, blanket or even their food. This will help your dog feel calm and not so anxious about their surroundings.

GET SOME DOG ACCESSORIES

Take with you some dog accessories like boots, collar, and leash. No fancy accessories needed just those stuff that’s essential for camping. Bringing dog clothes are also fine, especially if you are heading somewhere with cold weather.

ENJOY YOUR CAMPING

Once you’ve reached your destination, unpack their stuff and let them adjust to the environment. The adjustment may take some time, but camping will be fun for them, too.

Finally, make sure your destination is dog-friendly if you are staying at a camping site. There are numerous camping sites around Australia

Taking your dog with you on your camping trip will be a lot of fun. Make sure your dog has plenty of water and you always keep your dog on a leash, and never leave your dog unattended.
