CAMPING IN STYLE: HOW TO STAY FASHIONABLE IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Camping is an activity enjoyed by all — even the fashionistas. However, style-inclined women tend to struggle when it comes to picking outfits. Camping usually means choosing comfort over style, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be fashionable, though. There are many ways to look chic and still be dressed appropriately for camping. If you want to camp in style, here’s how to stay fashionable in the great outdoors.

CHIC LAYERING

It’s essential to layer clothes when camping so that you’re warm, comfortable and safe from the elements. As a fashionista, you can camp in style by using this layering system to your advantage. You can look chic but still dressed for the outdoors.

For example, you can wear a lightweight top under a fitted wool jumper and a waterproof vest. For your bottom, you can wear form-fitting trousers and knee-high gumboots. Then, when hiking, you can wear a strappy sports bra under a loose tank top along with chic leggings and on-trend trainers. Just make sure to have outerwear that will keep you warm when temperatures drop at night.

PLAY WITH COLOURS AND PRINTS

You can stick to basic clothing items but infuse some personal style by playing with colours and prints. You can wear camping-appropriate clothes such as tank tops, leggings, shorts, socks and camping shoes. However, instead of sticking to basic colours, you can combine colours, patterns and prints. You can play around and see which pieces go together. This will allow you to make a statement without being overdressed or inappropriately dressed.

ADD ACCESSORIES

Another way to camp in style is to add some accessories to basic clothing items. This will pull your look together and make you a little bit more fashionable. You can incorporate bandanas, hats, beanies, scarves and sunglasses into your camping looks.

NATURAL MAKEUP

It’s best to stick to a natural, dewy look when camping in style. You can get away with wearing a tinted moisturiser with SPF, brow gel, mascara, lip tint and a smidge of highlighter on your cheekbones. Don’t wear heavy or waterproof makeup, especially when you don’t have access to bathrooms and running water. Instead, pack some makeup wipes in your backpack.

FUSS-FREE HAIRSTYLES

You can opt for cute hairstyles like loose ponytails, messy buns and braided chignons, which only take a few minutes to create. It’s also easier to style second-day hair. You can bring along dry shampoo if you want more volume in your hair.

CAMPING GEAR FOR WOMEN

Nowadays, there’s a lot of camping gear designed for women. These are your usual camping equipment but with feminine colours and designs. Aside from that, they’re specifically tailored for women, so they’re functional and ergonomic as well. For example, you can choose a bright, multi-coloured camping backpack that is made from lightweight material and is properly fitted to a smaller body frame.

Camping can be a subjective experience. Some outdoor enthusiasts prefer roughing it out, while others prefer to camp in style. There’s nothing wrong with choosing one over the other. However, it’s perfectly attainable to rough it out while still maintaining a sense of personal style. With these fashion tips, you can look chic and fashionable but still able to engage in strenuous or physically demanding outdoor activities.
