CAMPFIRE STRAWBERRY FRENCH TOAST BREAKFAST OR SUPPER

This recipe is so easy to make and easy to cook. Preparation can and should be done in your kitchen before you go, and cooking is as easy as putting your foil container on the grill or on your campfire. You can mix this recipe up by replacing the eggs with icecream to make a great dessert.

Here is a look at some basic campfire styles and what they suit.

INGREDIENTS

1 loaf of bread of choice
1 cup scrambled eggs
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1 500g container of fresh strawberries (or strawberry jam if they are not convenient)
Icing sugar
Syrup of choice

INSTRUCTIONS

I like to dice up my strawberries but you can chop them up any way you like. The next step is to wrap the bread loaf in parchment paper before wrapping in foil. Make sure you don’t wrap it too tight in the end. Pour over your egg mix followed by sprinkling over your almonds and strawberries. I like to cut half slices and make room for the strawberries and almonds to drop in.

Finally, wrap tightly and cook over a low heat for around half an hour. Once cooked, let it set and pour more syrup over before serving. Save a few strawberries for serving if you can.
