Couple Watching Sunset While Camping

As a camping enthusiast, it’s natural to want to share your love for the outdoors with your significant other. However, some women are hesitant because camping is usually associated with rough conditions. If your girlfriend finally agrees to try it out, you’ll need to do a few things differently to make the experience more comfortable for her. Here are seven things to consider when camping with your girlfriend.

For you, choosing a camping location may be all about roughing it out in the most challenging conditions. When planning a trip with your girlfriend, however, you need to switch gears. Choose a campground that offers picturesque landscapes and a breathtaking view. Your camping location has to evoke an emotional response from your significant other. If she likes it, she’ll be taking a lot of photos to share with friends and family.

If it’s your girlfriend’s first time camping, two days and one night will be enough to provide her with the full camping experience. You may also want to choose a location that’s close to home so that time spent travelling is kept to a minimum. Also, it’s best to schedule the camping trip when there are good weather conditions. Camping in the rain and in cooler temperatures will be hard for beginners.

Likewise, if your girlfriend is new to the camping lifestyle, choose a campground that offers several amenities. Toilet and shower access shall be on the top of the list. Once she has more experience, you can venture out to more rugged campgrounds.

Even if it’s just the two of you camping, bring a large and spacious tent. Since this will also serve as a changing area, having enough space to work with will be much easier for your girlfriend. An inflatable air mattress will provide her with a good night’s sleep. Just make sure to bring a lot of blankets and pillows so she’s warm and comfortable.

Camping is all about the basics, right? Well, for your girlfriend’s first outdoor excursion, it’ll be a lot easier for the two of you if you stock up on toiletries and other essential items. Some of the must-haves include baby wipes, alcohol, mosquito repellant and toilet paper.

As a long-time camper, your previous camping trips were most likely improvised. This time around, it’s better to have a more structured itinerary to provide your girlfriend with enough entertainment. Create a game plan ahead of time and find activities that suit her interests.

You’ve already created an incredible camping trip for your girlfriend. End the night by having a romantic dinner under the stars. This will definitely be the icing on the cake. You can prepare a meal that’s a little bit more elaborate than the usual camp gruel. Serve dessert and even cocktails or a bottle of wine. This will be a sweet gesture your girlfriend will appreciate.

Camping doesn’t have to be a hobby limited to your friends. You can develop your girlfriend’s love for the outdoors by showing her that the benefits of camping definitely outweigh its negative aspects. Hopefully, she’ll see that even if you have to live without certain comforts, you can still have a wonderful experience. Camping with your loved one can even strengthen your relationship.
