Camping may not be at the top of your list when planning a romantic trip with your partner. By heading to the great outdoors, you and your partner can actually take advantage of romantic views and have uninterrupted quality time.

To create a once-in-a-lifetime experience, here are my tips for planning a romantic camping trip.

In order to have a romantic camping trip, you have to pick the perfect location. It must be private and isolated enough that there aren’t other campers within your vicinity. Fewer people also means less noise and distractions. Depending on your preferences, you can choose to camp up in the mountains or near the water. Just make sure that the landscape is unobstructed so you are treated to scenic views as you enjoy the sunset and the sunrise. Look at the stars on a clear night can get very romantic.

Apart from the location, the timing of your romantic camping trip is something else to consider. Springtime may be the best season as it isn’t as hot as the summer and not as chilly as in the winter. Before the trip, check the weather forecast to make sure that conditions will be ideal. There’s nothing like rain to ruin your plans unless you want to spend more time in the tent.

When it comes to your accommodation, bring a small tent that has enough room for just the two of you. This will make it feel more cozy and intimate. You can use a double sleeping bag so you and your partner can cuddle and keep warm through the night. For a more glamorous setup, you can use a tent large enough to fit an air mattress. Furthermore, make your sleeping quarters more comfortable by bringing a soft doona, plush pillows and a lot of blankets.

Nature is already breathtaking in itself but you can make your surroundings even more romantic by creating a nice ambience. You can drape LED strip lights along your tent for a dreamlike atmosphere. Also, line up some LED strip lights to create a path to your campsite. As for the music, play your most favourite romantic tunes on a wireless portable speaker.

This romantic camping trip is all about spending time with each other. Remove distractions by turning your smartphones and other gadgets off. This way, your partner will have your undivided attention.

You can also improve your relationship by engaging in simple but meaningful activities. You can take advantage of your surroundings by going on hikes, biking, swimming or canoeing. If you prefer, you can just stay near your campsite and play some card games. What’s important is that you’re spending quality time together.

Your meals don’t have to be elaborate to be special. It can be romantic preparing the meal together, especially if it’s a dish that has a special meaning to your partner. You can set up a camping table and some comfortable camping chairs so you two can eat properly. Make it more romantic by placing a tablecloth and lighting some candles safely. Enjoy a classic dessert — smores — as you sit around the campfire. You can even open a bottle of wine as you engage in deep conversation.

Contrary to popular belief, camping can actually be very romantic. As long as you make a few tweaks here and there, such as adding some creature comforts, bringing additional equipment and planning intimate activities. A romantic camping trip is guaranteed to be a unique and wonderful activity that you can share with your loved one.
