Family Camping In Comfort

5 TIPS AND TRICKS FOR A COMFORTABLE CAMPING EXPERIENCE

Camping and comfort are two words that don’t usually go together in the mind’s of most people. It has been said that to enjoy the great outdoors, you’ll have to rough it out and sacrifice the comforts of home. Thankfully, with the rise of glamorous camping — or ‘glamping’ — people have discovered ways to enjoy the peace and serenity of nature without having to forgo any amenities. Here are seven tips and tricks to achieve a fun and comfortable camping experience.

PLACE RUGS AND SOFT FOAM MATS TO KEEP YOUR TENT COZY AND CLEAN

Making the tent cozy and clean will significantly increase your comfort level during the camping trip. You can place a rug outside your tent to prevent dirt, mud or grass from entering the tent. You can also line the inside of your tent with soft foam mats that are typically used in kids’ playrooms. This will give you a softer surface to sit and sleep on.

USE ESSENTIAL OILS TO IMPROVE YOUR WELL-BEING

Your mind will be more at ease without having to worry about bug bites. Citronella oil isn’t only effective as a mosquito repellant, but it also has antibacterial properties and helps relieve headaches and muscle pain. Tea tree oil can ward off ticks while peppermint oil can prevent ants from infesting your food. Last but not least, a few drops of lavender oil will help you relax and give you a good night’s sleep.

DIY SLEEP ENHANCEMENTS

Whether you’re using a sleeping bag or an inflatable air mattress, you can boost your comfort level by using the sheets and blankets that you usually use at home. This will give the illusion that you’re back in your bed. Layering several of these sheets will also make the surface softer. Extra clothes can also be placed inside a pillowcase so you can have more pillows around you.

BRING A PORTABLE GRILL OR STOVE FOR MORE DELICIOUS FOOD

Today, campers no longer have to settle with preparing food on the open fire. Portable grills, stoves or flat plates are available at more than affordable prices. Though this may add to the many other items that you have to bring with you, the benefit is getting to enjoy flavourful and tasty meals.

CREATE A DECENT BATHROOM

Admittedly, the least fun thing about camping has to go to the bathroom. Instead of going into the woods to relieve yourself, why not create a decent, temporary bathroom? You can bring along a folding toilet chair or a DIY composting toilet. Portable showers will leave you feeling fresh despite being in the great outdoors.

There’s no shame in going for a comfortable camping experience. There are those who are extremely proud of the luxury they bring with them and wouldn’t go camping any other way. Just make sure you’ve got a way to keep that champagne chilled.
